Mendel Wendesday

As seen on the Static Games blog.

Mendel's Farm, as you may or may not be aware, went into hibernation briefly over the summer, but you'll be glad to know the project is back on full throttle! Now that the game is coming along swiftly, I thought it might be a good idea for y'all to know who we are, how we're doing and why we're doing what we're doing (in that order). So, I introduce to you: Mendel's Wednesday. Each Wednesday I will post development details about the trials, tribulations and trivia of the lives of us student developers out here in the big wild world of video games. If anyone is vaguely interested in student business life, feel free to leave a comment below or contact me personally. Without any more hesitation: update numero uno!

If this is your first time here, it's probably best you meet the team. Simon, Brett, Ryan and I are the main workforce on Mendel's Farm (the rest are on to secret projects... shh!) and we all work from home. No office you say? Correct, one of the first things we learnt going into this industry is that all you need is a computer, a cup of tea and some music and you're set to work. So I thought it might be interesting for you all to see what our work setups are like, just to prove that you don't need flashy buildings to make flashy games. Let's start with Simon...

Simon's Desk - Initially I tried to take a photo of his work, but that broke the camera. Note the tea.

TJ's Desk - Home sweet home. Yes I do sleep there. No I don't sleep enough. Again, note the tea.

Brett's Desk - Ignoring the faux product placement, this is the root of everything Mendel in the game. Brett is Mendel, in all senses. AGAIN NOTE THE TWO TEAS.

Ryan's Desk - Where code is crafted and destroyed. Note the lack of tea. He's always been the ugly duckling.

Also, we, Static Games, now have an Instagram and a Pinterest account if you'd like to follow us on either. We'll be posting anything that takes our fancy. Thanks for reading, and catch you next week. Stay wonderful, gamers.
