I am happy to announce that, through a personal friend who is co-organizer of this remarkable charitable contest, I will be recruiting some classmates and attending a hackathon for 8bitGiving.

8bitGiving.org is a collaboration between TheGivingLab, motivated students and indie developers to develop skills, build experience and all for a good cause. What makes TheGivingLab's campaign SeeTheDifference different (excuse the pun) from other charities is the ability to donate directly to the charities, skipping the middleman and offering the flexibility of choice for donators. It is essentially an organised umbrella of smaller, less well-known charities that are still worthy causes and deserve to have the attention of the public, and SeeTheDifference aims to serve all of these equally.

This campaign of events will eventually lead to a 24-hour hackathon, in which the teams of 3-5 people compete to code a game from scratch on the platform of their choice, so long as it promotes the charity and charitable giving as a whole. It certainly sounds like a very worthwhile endeavour and I will update you all closer to and on the event.
